Retry Correct Incorrect Ettore Bugatti founded the car brand in 1909. Its vehicles gained a reputation for being high performance and for their aesthetically pleasing design. Soon after Bugatti’s Molsheim factory was devastated in WWII, the brand’s founder passed away and the brand went defunct. However, Volkswagen bought the rights to Bugatti in 1998 and built a modern production facility in Molsheim, Bugatti’s original home.
