When Traditions Say We Should Have Our Christmas Trees Up By
The holiday season is fast approaching, and with that comes many things.
One of those is Christmas decorations and Christmas trees. Is there a date that you should have your tree up by? Traditions say that there is!
When To Put Up Your Christmas Tree?
Deciding on the right time to put up your Christmas tree is something that a lot of people struggle with.
You want to be like Goldilocks and make sure that you get it just right.
December 24?!
A very long time ago, it was a custom to wait all the way until December 24 to put your tree up.
That would have left such a short window to have your house in the Christmas spirit.
Most Wait Until After Thanksgiving
The majority of people like to put their tree up a lot sooner than December 24 now.
Many Americans like to wait until after Thanksgiving to put theirs up, though there are some who put it up before then.
Follow The Advent Calender
Those who are Christian put their Christmas tree up on the first Sunday in the Advent calendar.
Advent is the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. That's a longer time to appreciate the Christmas tree.
Anytime In December
But if you do not follow the Advent calendar, or any other tradition of putting your tree up, don't worry!
Most people would agree that putting your Christmas tree up anytime in December is acceptable.
When To Take It Down?
After it's up comes the question of when to take it down.
Not on Christmas Day or Boxing Day but a little bit later. Most people will leave their tree up until around January 6!
